Sustainability and biophilic design principles inform much of the work of Ben Callery Architects. It’s a practice concerned primarily with creating beautiful homes that enhance the lifestyles of those who live in them. With this in mind, we wanted to design a website for Ben’s practice that showcased their work and also underscored their commitment to practical, sustainable design.
We made the decision to eschew overly ornate design embellishementments and animations and instead opted for a magazine-style layout so as to focus attention on the beautiful images of the homes BCA has designed.
Along with high-quality photography, Ben and his team supplied detailed accounts of their projects. We wanted to take advantage of this, but so as not to present a text-heavy page to visitors, we added the bulk of the copy to a ‘read more’ dropdown at the bottom of the page. In addition to this, we included an introduction at the top of each page and occasional salient extracts throughout the image galleries.
The result is a site that is approachable and visually appealing, while still providing plenty of additional information about BCA and their projects for potential clients who wish to dig a little deeper.
